Canon news: new EF 200-400mm f/4 L IS USM Canon lens uses built-in 1.4× extender that creates an increased focal range of 280–560mm
Canon will develop a new 200-400mm f/4 telephoto zoom with a built-in 1.4x extender that pushes the focal range up to 280-560mm, the company has revealed.
The Canon announcment comes with the first official display of the new EF 200-400mm f/4 L IS USM EXTENDER 1.4× Canon lens at the CP+ show this week in Yokohama, Japan. The Canon L lens will be aimed at sports and wildlife photographers.
This latest addition to the professional Canon L series lens range coincides with two other new Canon lenses announced today: the EF 500mm F/4L IS USM and EF 600mm F/4L IS USM. Canon also launched the Canon EOS 1100D and Canon EOS 600D DSLRs (Read our Hands On: Canon 1100D review and Hands On: Canon 600D review).
As the Canon lens is still in development stage, an EF 200-400mm f/4 L IS USM EXTENDER 1.4× release date and price is not yet available at the time of writing
